Woman In Marked Crosswalk Struck Dead By Dump Truck In Pittsburgh: Authorities

A woman in her 70s was struck dead by a dump truck in Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.

The unidentified woman was hit while crossing the street in the 5000 block of Second Avenue in Pittsburgh's Hazelwood neighborhood on Dec. 21 at 1:44 p.m., according to a release by Pittsburgh Public Safety. 

The driver of the dump truck stayed on the scene where the woman was later declared deceased.

Footage of the scene obtained by WPXI shows the dump truck stopped on the crosswalk which was marked and signed. 

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, by the Collision Investigation team. 

The roadway remained closed as of 4 p.m.
